Operation & Maintenance

Wastewater Treatment

In order for your sewage treatment system to maintain a long life span it needs to receive maintenance. Such as, pumping your septic tank every 3 to 5 years, depending on the number of users in the household, or alternating your leach lines every 6 months. Pumping your septic tank prevents solids from entering the leaching component, where the soil continues the treatment of the effluent.

Systems with mechanical pumps and agitators require more frequent maintenance because these parts will eventually need replaced. For the sewage treatment system to function the way it was designed these mechanical parts must be functional.

The Carroll County General Health District (CCGHD) is required to implement an Operation and Maintenance (O&M) program per the Ohio Administrative Code 3701-29-19. Please click on the link below to view the Operation and Maintenance Regulations.
