Congregate Settings are an environment where several people meet, gather, or reside for a limited or extended period of time. Examples of these settings are schools, long term care facilities, prisons, or jails.
The Carroll County General Health District inspects several congregate settings regarding food safety, but also provides safety inspections for local schools and the Carroll County jail.
The CCGHD follows Creating Healthy School Environments: Step by Step Voluntary Guidelines for Ohio Schools. The purpose of these guidelines is to assist schools in assessing, improving, and maintaining the environmental health of their facility.
The guidelines are presented in a tiered format so that schools, no matter what their available resources, will have the opportunity for successful implementation at the foundational level.
The Carroll County Jail is full-service and is required to be inspected annually by the local health department for a general health inspection of the facility.
