The Carroll County General Health District provides the Ohio Buckles Buckeyes Car Seat Program for Carroll County Residents.

Ohio Buckles Buckeyes is a child passenger safety program through the Ohio Department of Health that provides child safety seats and booster seats to eligible families.

Eligibility Requirements:

  • Carroll County Resident
  • WIC Income Eligible
  • You have a child who is in need of a convertible car seat or booster seat
  • Attend a child passenger safety education class with one of our Child Passenger Safety Technicians
  • Vehicle must be present at the time of the class to assist with installation.

Donations for the car seats are encouraged. 

Child Passenger Safety Technicians are available to conduct car seat inspections for anyone who wants to make sure that their child is safely riding in the correct car seat for their age, weight and height; and that it is properly installed.

Appointments are required for car seat classes and inspections. Please contact 330-627-4866 ext 1558 to schedule an appointment.

Child Passenger Safety Education:

Ohio Law: View Ohio Revised Code 4511.81

  • Children under 4 years of age and less than 40 pounds are required to be in a child passenger safety seat according to car seat instructions.
  • Children ages 4 to 8-years old who weigh 40 pounds or more and less than 4 feet 9 inches tall are required to be in a booster seat or other approved safety seat according to car seat instructions.
  • Children ages 8 to 15 years of age are required to be in seat belts no matter where they are seated in the car.

According to the American Academy of Pediatrics technical package released in August 2018, all infants and toddlers should ride in a rear-facing child safety system as long as possible until they reach the maximum weight or height allowed by their child safety system’s manufacturer.
